The weeks after the arrival of a new baby can be an overwhelming time for a new family. A postpartum doula's job is to help you find balance and ease the transition into your new role as parents. I can take care of the day to day household tasks: meal preparation, tidying up and organizing while you focus on bonding with your new family or taking a break for a few moments to yourself.
I am a Postpartum Doula trained by Doulas of North America (DONA). I will provide loving support during the first weeks after the birth of your baby. My focus will be on providing space for a new family to bond while helping the mother heal from birth.
In years past we relied on family and close friends to come and help with household matters, meals, baby care and other needs that always arise. Today, our nuclear families are frequently geographically spread out and our female family members are working and do not have the luxury to be able to stay with your new family for extended periods of time. In a society where we are increasingly finding ourselves far away from those support structures, there is a hole to be filled in the life of a family with a new baby.
This is where the postpartum doula can help.
